Which Skincare Packaging Is Best?

Let me state that my dream skincare package is a glass bottle with a pump and a use meter on the side, or a suction pump in a transparent glass bottle that moves up as you use the product :)

For years, I have used a lot of skincare products in different packages. Some are convenient, some make it a struggle to get the product out, and some leave me wondering if there's any product left inside... Good old scissors to the rescue. I am categorizing by material, shape, and whether it has a pump or not. I think we can all agree that glass makes skincare feel expensive. For someone trying to actively reduce plastic consumption, container recycling is important too. I get stressed out just thinking about which bin to put my empty skincare containers in—recycling or garbage? Materials

  • glass

  • metal

  • plastic/rubber

Shapes

  • tubes

  • jars

  • square container thingy

  • bottles

All these can be pump or no pump. A personal comparison between jars and other containers (tubes, bottles): Pros of Jars

  • Easy getting all the product out

Cons of Jars

  • Contamination by finger dipping (is this really a thing)

  • Product colour change is visible

Pros of tubes/closed packaging

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Easier to pack for travel

  • Can rinse to get bath products out

Cons of tubes

  • Might need a scissors to get all out

Some product packaging i have enjoyed are Murad Serums, Tatcha Moisturizers and the most interesting I have is the Dr Althea Pure Grinding Cleansing Balm. Let me know which you faves!
